I didn't really want to "get it" though - I wanted to get out and go exploring somewhere else more appealing.... I guess speaking portuguese would have helped.... It's an exciting city full of music and traditional culture, with something new to do every night and a different beach to visit every day. The local people are the kindest, warmest and most helpful I've met anywhere in my world travels. I can't help but feel sad for folks like these posters who didn't bother to get off the well-worn tourist path and therefore didn't "get it". Salvador either grabs your heart and soul–or doesn’t.
