Not sure if this is a new thing, but you can now book the Airpass online at http://plane.lan.com/cgi-bin/compra/saa.cgi.

I've booked five flights which add up to $800 based on the individual fares listed at http://plane.lan.com/promociones/data/norteamerica/us/todo_el_mundo/saairpass_tabla-en-us.html and the flights come to $1000 in total once taxes and surcharges are included.

Annette,

Joining LAN won't make a difference - likewise you'll never be able to get these types of prices online. You need to do it over the phone - either by calling LAN directly and asking for their airpass, or by calling a flights specialist (ie. one that knows what a LAN airpass is). Airpass prices (and rules) are too complicated for a computer to calculate (though I've tried to explain it all here) - human input is required. Call LAN!

Remember the rates are published on LAN's website -

I have read this article about the airpass. I have joined on lan.com, but I am not able to get rates anywhere near what was shown in the article.

How can I qualify for the cheaper rates? We are flying from USA to ba on feb. 6; no we did not book with lan ...

Thanks, Annette

Nadia-

I booked with Journey Latin America (who I used to work for). Any Latin/South America specialist tour operator should be able to book you such an airpass. Journey Latin America has the added advantage of the fact that they accept flight only bookings.

As for Oneworld alliance discounts - no there are none, though previously I think that there were. You only get a discount if you've flown with Lan, but it's not much of a discount so book international flights with whoever.

What flights specialist tour operator did you use to book your LAN pass? If you fly in on a Oneworld alliance member (i.e. American Airlines), does that count for the extra discounts for flying in on LAN?
