About this travel blog

I’m Chris, 30, a travel enthusiast from London. I write this blog, and the entire website, to share advice and tips on travel to Latin America. BigTravelWeb was launched in September 2007, and as of June 2009, it’s receiving about 2000 visitors per day. By 2010, my hope is to be receiving about over a million visitors per year [Nov 2010 edit - pleased to report that this aim was totally over-achieved and the site now gets over 1.5 million annual visitors.  Quite how I pulled that off, I’m not sure…..]

I’ve previously worked as an ecotourism consultant (in Ecuador) and have also worked for one of the UK’s top specialist tour operators (Journey Latin America), booking Latin America holidays for clients that ranged from budget trips to luxury 8 week itineraries. I’d like to think that the advice I can offer on this site is pretty high quality.

I’ve travelled to over 50 countries. I´ve visited most countries in Latin America, and am working on visiting them all very soon I hope. I’ve lived in 4 countries - UK (where I´m from), Belize, Ecuador and Colombia (where I live now).

Most of the destinations I’ve visited in Latin America are marked above.

Other sites I manage include paisatours.com (a travel guide to Colombia) and piedrablanca.org (a community ecotourism project in Ecuador, with whom I am an ongoing volunteer worker).
